The new cybersecurity regulations enacted by New York State’s Department of Financial Services (DFS) have gone into effect March 1, 2017. The regulations require a broad range of cybersecurity controls, with adequate governance and reporting. This webinar will specifically address the DFS's Cybersecurity Examinations and what you need to know to prepare for and undergoing your first DFS Cybersecurirty Examination.

The DFS has emphasized the critical importance of Cybersecurity compliance and put the industry on notice that they “will now include cybersecurity in all DFS examinations to ensure that proper cybersecurity governance is being practiced by our regulated entities.” (emphasis supplied)

This webinar is intended for “Limited Exemption” covered entities as per section 500.19 of the NYSDFS (23 NYCRR 500) and will include:

  • An overview of the regulation.
  • A summary of what controls need to be in place & by when.

Upcoming Compliance Deadline in accordance with NYSDFS (23 NYCRR 500):

  • September 3, 2018: • §500.13: Limits on Data retention-periodic disposal of NPI; 
  • March 1, 2019: • §500.11: Third Party Service Provider Security requirements to be in place.
